National simultaneous storytime a big success

The annual ‘National Simultaneous Storytime’ was held today across the country.

School children and their parents gathered at Wollongong Library this morning for a reading of ‘The Wrong Book’ by Nick Bland. The kids also sang and danced to ‘The Hokie Pokie’ and created their own top hats in an art activity.

The campaign aims to encourage more young Australians to read and enjoy books. Now in its 13th successful year it is a colourful, vibrant and fun event that aims to promote the value of reading and literacy.

Overall the program was a big success.
