New ACT Labor leader

Katy Gallagher is on track to become the next ACT chief minister after she replaced Jon Stanhope as Labor party leader.

Ms Gallagher was elected unopposed at a Labor caucus meeting this morning.

Mr Stanhope announced yesterday he was stepping down as party leader and chief minister.

Her deputy will be Andrew Barr, who was also elected unopposed.
